BlissWave
A dance by Jaya Vajra

A dance where every yes is chosen.

BlissWave is a dance of closing, opening and choosing. You will always be free to say no, and thank you, and move on.

Artwork: a dark sea at dusk with layered waves, a low gold sun and rings of ripples on the water.

The idea in one breath

First you dance alone, with your own space closed around you. Then you open it. Then you look for someone who would like to dance. If they say yes, you dance together, very lightly. If they say no, you thank them, and you both keep dancing. That is the whole idea.

Five movements, always in this order

Close. Open. Seek. Answer. Dance.

  1. One

    Alone.

Close your space. Dance with yourself.

  2. Two

    Open.

One simple movement opens your bubble.

  3. Three

    Seek.

Meet someone's eyes. Offer a nod.

  4. Four

    Answer.

Yes, and you dance. No, and a hand over the heart says thank you.

  5. Five

    Together.

Light touch, or none at all. A flow, not a posture.

No pressure, by design

A no is a complete answer.

You only open to the people you choose. Nobody is ever obliged to dance with anyone, touch anyone, or take part in anything they do not want. Nobody is judged for saying no.

Where it comes from

BlissWave has its roots in the old teachings described in my books. The moves borrow from the dances I love: waltz, polka, the hustle, and the weaving of Argentine tango.

A note on honesty

A computer helped with this site, the way a writer uses a very quick assistant who is good at looking things up. The dance is mine. I approve every word about it. Anything that could not be checked is left out.

Curious? Come and see how it feels.

Ask me about a class or a gathering. I read what you send.
